Grading systems by country

Every country grades a little differently — a 70% is a top First in the UK but a C in the US, and a Danish 12 has no 11 above it. GradeCheck estimates grades on all of these scales. USA (A–F & GPA)

Letters A–F on a 4.0 GPA scale.

United Kingdom

Firsts, 2:1, 2:2 — degree classifications where 70% is top.

IB Diploma

Subjects scored 7–1; 24+ points to pass the diploma.

Germany

Noten 1–6 where 1 is best; converting to GPA.

France

Sur 20, pass at 10, with mentions.

Denmark

The 7-trinsskala: 12, 10, 7, 4, 02, 00, -3.

Sweden

A–F where E is the pass and F the only fail.

Norway

Karakter 6–1 where 6 is best, 2 passes.

Netherlands

Cijfer 1–10, pass at 6, 9s and 10s rare.

Spain

Nota 0–10 with aprobado, notable, sobresaliente.

Finland

Arvosana 4–10 where 5 passes and 4 fails.

Australia

HD, D, C, P, F — Pass at 50%.

AP Exams

Scored 1–5; a 3 usually earns college credit.

Cambridge A-Level

A*–E with U for ungraded.
